Over the weekend I finished mixing up my short EP. If I haven't told you about it yet, it's recorded using completely dead strings from the guitar I keep in my car and go busking with, my "car guitar". I wanted to put some original tracks down onto a CD that I plan to sell while busking, so you can take home a little of my live performances. I plan on making only a limited number of the CD's, like 200 physical copies of it or so. I haven't figured out the exact number quite yet. Anyways, I decided to drop a copy of it online for digital downloads should anyone be interested. This was recorded in my small home studio. Originally I didn't want to overdub with two or more guitar tracks so it would be exactly like what you would hear on the street while I was busking, but plans change and shit happens so there. You can check it out or purchase a digital copy here
Oh man! Where do I even start? I guess a good place would be where I left off... So I haven’t really been performing much lately, it’s getting colder which makes it difficult to want to go busking. I’ve mostly just been traveling then recovering & relaxing then more traveling... So let’s see here…
The weekend of October 3rd was Alchemy Burn, Georgia’s regional burning man event. You can check out their website here. I wound up renting one of my sound systems to a good friend that runs a theme camp out there. I wasn't planning on attending the burn but that’s the funny thing about plans, they often don’t go according to plan. I ended up being gifted a ticket last second and spent quite literally 24 hours on site. It was probably the best burn I've had in a really long time. 24 hours, no sleep, just pure burn fun and shenanigans. I am thankful for the time I got to spend with friends that I don’t often get to see or spend time with. I also had a new experience that I've never had before or even considered having before! I solemnized a wedding! Which means I acted as the minister in a wedding. It was completely random and wonderful and took me off guard and was wonderful! Did I mention how wonderful it was? It's nearly three weeks later and I'm still astounded it happened. Once I got back into town, I registered with the AMM and I am now proud to announce that I am in fact an ordained minister! Kind of crazy right? Who would have guessed…
After Alchemy, I headed to Chattanooga where I met up with a friend from out of town. We did Chattanooga in style, hit up the aquarium, and caught the tail end of their pride festival which was a pleasant surprise! There was lots of good food and ice cream!! This brought the weekend of October 3rd to a close.
The next weekend, October 10th, I went to my home town near Columbus, Ohio. A good friend of mine got married and I have not been back since Christmas 2013 so it seemed like a very good time to go. Lots of drinks, catching up, no sleep (as usual), cigars and getting dapper, more catching up, more drinks, and even less sleep. I got to check out some of the best local bands in Columbus, I really miss the music scene there. We saw Mojo Flo at Rumba Cafe, After Funk at Skullys, and a few others that are escaping me currently. This was of course in exchange for missing the Doge Step event at at Kaleidoscape. It was a wonderful trip but I was thankful to return to Atlanta for a calm week, Ohio can get pretty wild…
Finally, this past weekend, a good friend of mine had a “bro night”; whiskey, scotch, cigars, and some really good guys getting together to shoot the shit. The next day (Saturday) I took the day off to do chores such as laundry since it had been roughly two weeks since I last cleaned or did anything around my place. Sunday, I had a meeting with the owner of Kaleidoscape and helped out with their neighborhood meet and greet. It was a really good time and we wound up going out afterwards where we caught the open mic comedy night at the Speakeasy in Vesuvius Pizzeria.
Finally, over the weekend I received a job offer I could not refuse and put in my two weeks with my current employer this past Monday.
Then I wrote a new song yesterday… annnndddd I still need to finish my Demo/EP…
Too Long? Don’t care to read it all? Here are the highlights; Alchemy Burn, had a new experience where I solemnized a wedding, went to Chattanooga, got ordained through the AMM, went to Ohio for a buddy’s wedding, helped out with Kaleidoscape over the weekend, and accepted a new job offer. Hopefully now that I am back in town for the foreseeable future, I will keep this thing better updated. Anyways! Thank you for following along, till next time!
This past weekend was a pretty good one! Saturday I went busking outside of the OutKast show at Centennial Olympic Park. I made quite a bit of money in a pretty short time, got some people to dance, tried some new songs, and overall had a great time! I spent most of the day working on my EP and only a few hours busking. I was probably there maybe 10p to midnight. Afterwards I went to Virginia Highlands to catch the bar crowd but it was fairly dead so I wound up grabbing a drink with some new found friends.
Sunday I was up bright and early for the Distinguished Gentlemen's Ride which raises money for prostate cancer. It was epic to say the very least. Meeting everyone looking all dapper was wonderful. I enjoyed networking and may have even found up getting a fire spinning gig out of it. The Georgia MotoRyders group are the ones who hosted the ride in Atlanta this year. Below is a picture of me in the ride (bright blue tie) and some other pictures from the ride. The picture of me riding was taken by Michael S. Cosky and the entire album can be viewed here! The one of the entire group is from Yarold Benavides and his photography business can be found here. I snagged the one of the bikes on my phone.
